Three Minute Thesis (3MT®)
Three minute thesis (3MT®) is an exercise aimed at promoting the development of communication skills of UCAM PhD students. Participants have three minutes to directly, clearly and eloquently explain their research in a language suitable for a non-expert audience.
The first 3MT® competition was held at the University of Queensland (Australia) in 2008 with the participation of 160 PhD students. Within a short time, interest in the 3MT® concept and its adoption by many universities grew and soon led to the creation of an international competition.
Currently, some Spanish universities (Valladolid, Salamanca, Pública de Navarra, Lleida, La Rioja, Alcalá de Henares, Carlos III, among others) have adopted 3MT® as a transversal training tool and as a strategy to promote scientific research.
The Catholic University of Murcia joins this group of pioneering universities with a competition that will take place from next March and will have its final phase in the 12th Research and Doctoral Conference: “Researchers around the world” of the UCAM.
